Why You Should Upgrade Your Luxury Door to a Security Door

The majority of our clients contact us because they’re looking for a security door — but not just any security door. They also want a beautiful luxury front door, bedroom door, or sliding glass door. Fortunately for them, we can make all of these dreams come true.

Sometimes people call looking for a custom front door and end up also getting a sliding door and a fire door so they can secure every entrance and exit point. Once they realize that we can create beautiful doors, they see that the upgrade from “beautiful door” to “security door” just makes sense.

And when they’re one and the same? It’s the perfect solution.

Here’s why you should upgrade your custom luxury front door to a security door.

Public Access and Safety

People building new luxury homes or purchasing existing ones to remodel are often in the public eye. Celebrities such as athletes, actors, and musicians are typically among the types of people living in luxury homes, especially in affluent areas like Miami or suburbs surrounding Los Angeles. People living in the public eye face an entirely different amount of scrutiny than the average person. They’re more likely to contend with stalkers, crazed fans, generally nosy people, and legitimately violent people. In 2014, actress Sandra Bullock woke up to strange noises coming from the third floor of her house. When she went to investigate, she found someone in her workout room. He’d been stalking her and accumulating weapons, though he told police that he had no intention of harming her — simply pointing out the weaknesses in her security.Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift has had multiple stalkers over the years, one literally swam to her private beach at her Rhode Island home while another threw a brick through her window after climbing a ladder to get to the second floor of her Manhattan home. More than one has shown up at her Beverly Hills residence looking for her. As a result, Swift carries a military grade first aid kit in the event that she (or a member of her security team) is stabbed or shot.A photo of a glass french door overlooking the backyard of a luxury home. Many celebrities (both men and women) are stalked during the course of their careers, including Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Gwenyth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Jennifer Aniston, Madonna, John Lennon, Mark Zuckerberg, David Letterman, Jennifer Lawrence, Ashley Tisdale, Britney Spears, Selena, Alec Baldwin, Lili Reinhart, Jennifer Lopez, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ariana Grande, and basically every member of the Kardashian and Jenner families. Unfortunately, the list goes on and on.When you live your life in the public eye, people have greater access to you, and it can lead them to believe that they actually know you. Some people are less mentally stable than others, and you never really know which fan will end up stalking you, versus just asking for an autograph. Some people are able to maintain their wealth as well as their privacy, but entertainers are rarely afforded that luxury. If this is an issue for your family at all, it’s important to make sure you’re eliminating weak spots in your physical security. Regular windows can be broken or ripped right out of their frames, and locks can be easily picked.Upgrading your front door (and your fire door, side door, and sliding door) to a security door will not only keep you safer, but will help your whole family rest easier at night.

The Upgrade Is Easy

When you’re already spending a decent amount of money on a custom luxury door, it’s not much of a stretch to just make it a security door. In fact, architects and interior designers may be pleasantly surprised at how little the budget changes if you were already planning to get an oversized door, because the price point is higher anyway.Every door we make is a security door, so whatever you see on our website is exactly that, whether it’s a hinge door, a pivot door, arched, or sliding glass.

No Need to Compromise on Design

The most important thing to consider about upgrading your luxury front door to a security door is that you don’t have to compromise your design aesthetic for security, and you don’t have to compromise your security plan in order to maintain your design. We have a wide variety of coverings we can put on your custom luxury door to make it fit any style or architectural period. Our coverings range begin with the essentials — panels that cover the steel structure of the security door. While elegant and sleek, they are not meant to withstand the elements and can only be used on interior surfaces of luxury front doors. The next step up is our enhanced series. These options include panels made of wood composite (available in multiple shades) and anodized aluminum, which can also be finished using the PerfectMatch™ system. These materials are more durable, so they can be used on exterior luxury doors, but they should be covered by an awning or portico.A photo of a custom luxury front door framed by security glass. Our elegant series of coverings include luxurious materials such as Italian gres, solid wood (stained in a variety of shades), and decorative security glass. The Italian gres is one of our favorite materials because of how low maintenance it is — it can be easily wiped clean with cloth and doesn’t need frequent sealing. Our security glass can be shaped to fit any opening, tinted to any color you desire, or even frosted for increased privacy. And finally, our extravagant coverings include the upper echelons of luxury such as hand-stitched Italian leather, precious stones, and even Swarovski® crystal. Furthermore, each security door we make can literally be two entire door designs because the interior of the door can be completely different from the exterior. For example, if you want your front entry door to be a pop of color on the front of your house (say, a luxurious red), but the foyer of your home is marble, so you want a warmer material on the inside, we can easily take care of that.Using our FBS PerfectMatch™ system, we can match any color you throw at us — if you like a specific red in an article of clothing, or of your favorite flower, we can match it. If your marble has a particular shade of grey running through it and you want leather to warm the foyer that matches that marble vein, we can do that, too. Truly, we can do whatever you want. It’s simply a matter of cost.

We Can Match Any Existing Door

It’s a common practice among our clients to match doors that already exist in their luxury homes in order to conceal their security measures. You certainly don’t want to alert people to pieces of your security plan because the more they know, the more they can come up with contingency plans to get around them. If you’re looking to replace your existing front door, but don’t want to draw attention to the fact that you’re replacing your front door with a security door, we can make an exact replica of the existing door. People will never know the difference between the old one and the new one, but you’ll know that you’re safer because of the switch.Likewise, we can match any of your internal doors. Most often, we do this with bedroom doors, particularly when clients are installing our Sanctuary™ System. In luxury homes, it’s usually easy to tell which bedroom leads to the master suite because it’s a set of double doors or a pivot door. However, it still matches the rest of the doors on that floor of the house. We can look at the rest of your doors and make sure that the custom security door we make for your bedroom looks exactly like the rest of the doors in the house. Again, the only person who will know the door is different from the rest is you, and you’ll be able to sleep better at night knowing that you’re completely protected.A photo of a custom bedroom security door in a luxury home.

Technology Integration

The largest failure point with regular keys is that they can be duplicated. That’s why FBS keys are different from normal keys, and our third-generation locksmith friend told us that they’d be impossible to duplicate. But when you’re buying an FBS security door, you have the option to skip the key altogether and make your entry even more secure. Our facial recognition technology is the best you can possibly ask for. It works with our motorized doors and locks so that when the scanner reads your face (or someone else’s with your authorization), the door simply unlocks and opens on its own. After you pass the threshold, it shuts and locks. Other keyless entry options we offer include fingerprint scanners, electronic keypads, and key fobs that work with proximity detectors. We can also install peephole cameras that will allow you to see who is at your luxury front entry door from anywhere — even if you’re not home. But make no mistake that this is nothing like the popular video doorbell platforms widely available. Their systems are simply not secure, but then again, that’s not really their business. They’re in business to provide video doorbell services so you can see who’s at your house and record unwanted visitors. But FBS is in the security business. Our job is to help keep you and your family safe, so our technology is specially designed to keep your data and information safe.

The FBS Difference

There are many things that set FBS apart from everyone else selling their version of “security doors.” First of all, our security doors are leagues above the rest in many ways. Most of the time, they’re selling wrought iron doors that go on the outside of your front door. Aside from the fact that they hide your front door, they ruin the façade of a luxury home. While there are some legitimately beautiful wrought iron doors, they simply cannot compare in elegance or security to FBS security doors. We can literally build you an impenetrable door — one that cannot be shot through. And trust that no one is breaking down one of our doors through brute force alone. The other thing that sets us apart from everyone is the comprehensive security service we provide. Not only can we built you a custom luxury door, but we can create windows with customized glass (security, hurricane-certified, or ballistic), and give you access to an elite team of security professionals (former Secret Service, Homeland Security, police and military personnel) to assess your situation and determine what measures can be taken to improve your security. For more information about our partnership with LionHeart International Services Group, check out our article about it here.

Beginning Your Custom Luxury Door Design

It’s probably obvious, but we’re very passionate about security doors. It’s most important to us that we can help put your mind at ease about keeping your family safe, but we also want to make sure we’re doing proper justice to your luxury home. Between the fine Italian craftsmanship that has been cultivated over decades, the German engineering of our technology, and the American innovation we bring to the table, we believe that our security doors are better than anything else you’ll find on the market. We’re confident that no one can compete. A photo of the security door at the front entrance of a business in a downtown city setting. If you’re already spending a significant amount of money on a luxury front door, why not upgrade it to a custom security door? It won’t cost that much more and you’ll be able to sleep easier at night because you’ll feel safer in your home. We have a wealth of information available on our website, both through main pages and articles. Feel free to go through and look for answers to your questions, but please don’t hesitate to call us when you have questions. It can be a lot to take in, and having all these options available can sometimes make decisions more difficult.  A question people frequently ask is whether or not we ship to their location. While our headquarters is located in Boca Raton, Florida, we are not hindered by that in the slightest. We’ve delivered doors and windows to California, New York, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Italy, Jamaica, and many other locations around the world. Our doors and windows are made in Italy and delivered to their destination either by plane or ship, depending on where it needs to go.If you have any questions at all about security doors or custom luxury front doors, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. And if you’re close enough to our headquarters, we can even schedule an appointment for you to stop in and look at some samples.
